Sainsbury’s is seeking a Brand Communications Manager.

What you need to do

  • Work with the Senior Brand Communications Manager to implement communications that comprise the Live Well for Less agenda, including but not limited to: Live Well for Less brand campaigns, Easter and Christmas brand campaigns for Sainsbury’s and Argos, Active Kids, Health, values campaigns and Nectar campaigns.
  • This role requires working closely with other communications teams and PR agencies to ensure a clear and consistent narrative across all our external communications.
  • As communications will be aligned across different departments, you will need to develop strong relationships with relevant contacts at Sainsbury’s, Argos and Nectar in Marketing, CR, Internal Communications and Customer Careline
  • You will be required to take the lead on specific projects relating to the Brand and Sustainability Strategy, as directed by the Senior Brand Communications Manager
  • Understand and implement digital and social media communications across the projects you are working on
  • Generate and maintain excellent media relations with core contacts and beyond
  • Provide out of hours PR support to the business at evenings and weekends on a rota basis
  • On a weekday rota basis send the business news updates
  • Monitor issues related to your areas of the business and flag them as appropriate
  • Support the Media Relations team in managing issues and incoming queries related to your areas of expertise in the business

What you need to know and show

  • Solid corporate and consumer communications experience including digital and social media
  • Sustainability communications experience
  • Strong media contacts / ability to build strong journalist relationships quickly
  • Agency experience and understanding of agency business dynamics including fees and time management
  • Ideally experience of working with retail brands
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Understanding of digital and social media and ability to implement in campaigns as appropriate
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Interest in sustainability
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Team player
  • Able to work to tight deadlines across several projects
  • Self-starter – highly motivated
  • Solutions orientated – positive and results-focused
  • Good presentation skills – PowerPoint and gravitas
  • Interest in the media, new media, and innovation in PR techniques
