There is an exciting opportunity at Goby Inc. for a Manager- Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG).

The ESG Manager reports to the VP of ESG and is responsible for managing a team of 4-7 consultants and data analysts; and owning the customer relationship for 10+ clients with a focus on customer satisfaction, project delivery and driving value to the client. Projects delivered include LEED certification and recertification, GRESB submittals, ESG strategy, ENERGY STAR/municipal benchmarking, and other customer services for commercial real estate owners and operators. The role includes both strategic and hands-on requirements and will demand intensive experience in understanding current ESG best practices and trends, turning customer feedback into actionable strategy, identifying and executing on improvement opportunities, team growth and development, as well as business growth within client book of business.

The ESG Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, the following

  • Own and manage a customer relationship at the executive/stakeholder level for 10+ accounts
  • Manage a team of 4-7 associates, including consultants, data analysts, project managers
  • Accountable for all team deliverables and ultimate success and retention of the customer
  • Provide program management and strategic planning for customers as required per contractual agreement; some billable time and face time with customers in addition to management duties
  • Understand each customer’s contracted scope and company’s ESG goals; identify upsell opportunities
  • Manage contract requirements and customer expectations
  • Assign projects to team members based on workload and skill set
  • Identify any core competency deficiencies in staff and rectify through training or hiring
  • Ensure that all customers receive effective and timely communication
  • Monitor client health and know status of all assigned clients; communicate with clients regularly about project milestones and deliverables, as well as simply to maintain good relations and check in
  • Conduct annual performance reviews of team members on the anniversary date and per the Goby process
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team
  • Tech savvy and able to learn to be proficient in Goby software platform and able to communicate business needs for Product Development to VP

A strong candidate for the position will possess and/or be able to demonstrate the following skills/abilities

  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role and leading a team of 4-8 people
  • 4+ years of experience in ESG / Sustainability is required and the ability to demonstrate deep subject matter expertise, including green building certification and benchmarking
  • Strong project management knowledge, process-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Passion for knowing the customer and drive to make them successful
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and people management skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and risk management skills
  • Attention to detail and respect for deadlines
  • Aligned personally with Goby’s core values: Creativity, Respect, Accountability

Additional proficiencies for a successful candidate

  • Professional project management training
  • Previous GRESB, LEED, Fitwel experience
  • Experience working on sustainability initiatives in the Commercial Real Estate space
  • Familiarity with Utility data
