Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture seeks a Program and Partnerships Manager to manage and grow critical relationships with the aim of expanding membership in the Alliance while deepening engagement in member-led projects enrolled in Field to Market’s Continuous Improvement Accelerator.

Role Description

Provide leadership and coordination of Field to Market’s membership and partnership development while deepening engagement in member-led projects enrolled in the Alliance’s Continuous Improvement Accelerator program.

Position Overview

Field to Market is a non-profit, multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together a diverse alliance of grower groups; agribusiness companies; food, beverage, restaurant and retail companies; conservation groups; universities and public sector partners to focus on promoting, defining and measuring the sustainability of commodity crop production.

The Program and Partnerships Manager is responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of new member organizations and increasing project enrollment in the Continuous Improvement Accelerator. Harnessing the power of collaboration across the value chain, the Accelerator offers a standardized framework for implementing locally led conservation solutions and delivering sustainable outcomes for agriculture through continuous improvement projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background and understanding of sustainability issues impacting the food and agriculture sector; demonstrated experience in cultivating and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners; and the ability to translate sustainability goals into actionable strategies to deliver improvements in environmental outcomes. Experience in membership-based organizations and/or sustainability strategy is desired.

The position reports to the Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement & Implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Development

  • Ensure a comprehensive membership development strategy is implemented to achieve superior member relations while meeting funding goals.
  • Cultivate, recruit, and onboard new members in the Alliance in close collaboration with the Board, senior leadership, staff and members.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for members in the Alliance, providing timely responses to day-to-day member needs in service of membership engagement and retention goals.
  • Develop and update member recruitment materials that clearly distill value and benefits of membership.
  • Support staff, leadership and Board in preparing and delivering member briefing presentations as needed.
  • Maintain and utilize CRM software to manage membership database, mailing lists and directory.

Program Management

  • Work collaboratively with Program Director to assist members in enrolling projects in the Continuous Improvement Accelerator by supporting project design, development, registration and reporting.
  • Support new and established members in translating sustainability goals into actionable strategies to engage suppliers and farmers to deliver sustainable outcomes from commodity crop production.
  • Develop and maintain guidance materials to support members in designing and developing effective continuous improvement projects, with an emphasis on driving success through facilitating multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Support members in utilizing aggregated data from projects to meet leading sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Oversee project guidance resources and capabilities within Member Portal, the Alliance’s member-only website, to deliver meaningful and relevant project management experience for members.
  • Support members in identifying and forging collaborative partnerships with like-minded members to achieve shared sustainability goals and drive use of Alliance’s Partnership Exchange available through the Member Portal.
  • Partner with Program Director to identify opportunities to expand products and services available to members through the Continuous Improvement Accelerator, including but not limited to supplier trainings, case studies and customized insights.

Partnership Management

  • Partner with VP, Stakeholder Engagement & Implementation on harmonization and alignment efforts with strategic partners to support the Alliance in delivering a coordinated and comprehensive approach to advancing sustainable agriculture.
  • Identify and secure strategic partnerships to support farmers and members projects enrolled in the Accelerator in streamlining sustainability reporting requirements and/or recognition/equivalency with other sustainability programs and initiatives.
  • Fulfill other stakeholder engagement responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business, sustainability or corporate social responsibility and 4-6 years of relevant professional experience. Experience with a NGO, company, consultancy or membership organization is strongly desired.
  • Proven track record of success in working in a client/member-facing position, including cultivating and strengthening key relationships and forging strategic partnerships. Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with Field to Market members.
  • Exceptional project management skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to prioritize, establish and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated expertise on how translate sustainability goals into actionable strategies to deliver improvements in environmental outcomes and knowledge of how the private sector advances sustainable and regenerative agriculture
  • Demonstrated understanding of sustainability issues impacting the food and agriculture sector.
  • Proactive self-starter who can work as part of a team as well as independently when needed.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation experience. Must have strong command of the English language.
  • Willingness to undertake up to 15-20% business travel post COVID.
  • This position offers hybrid work environment and flexible schedule, balancing remote work with in-person collaboration following the Alliance’s return to Washington, DC office in 2022.
