The Nature Conservancy has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Media Relations Manager. The role is based in Austin or Houston, Texas. The Senior Media Relations Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and executing communications and media relations strategies to help advance the organization’s goals and priorities. S/he helps elevate TNC’s visibility and reputation around our conservation priorities with top tier media audiences. S/he may develop speeches, key messages and talking points and may organize press conferences, media tours, deskside briefings and other direct engagement opportunities with the media. S/he actively identifies stories and pitches relevant to target audiences and cultivates media contacts on a local, national and international level. S/he provides consultation, media training, coaching to persons serving as spokesperson(s), as needed. Ideally, s/he has knowledge about key issues and science around lands/agriculture, climate change, marine protection, urban conservation, and/or freshwater and insight into how to promote those issues with the media. The Senior Media Relations Manager will also contribute to strategies to manage reputational risk to the organization. This position reports directly to The Nature Conservancy’s Texas Director of Marketing.
