Fair Trade USA is seeking a Vice President of Consumer Packaged Goods. The role is based in Oakland/San Francisco Bay. Consumer Packaged Goods is Fair Trade USA’s fastest-growing category, and largest regarding the value of goods certified, representing about 1.5 billion dollars in retail sales. This category has increased steadily over the past few years, resulting in about $12 million in Fair Trade premiums earned by farmers in 2017.
The scope of the category is quite broad: the priority commodities being cocoa, sugar, coconut, and tea. This results in a broad geographic scope but particularly focused on the Ivory Coast, Dominican Republic, Belize, Paraguay, The Philippines, India, and China. The market side is also very far-reaching, ranging from the largest consumer packaged goods companies (PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Hershey’s) to much smaller brands sold primarily at Whole Foods or your local coop. Beyond brands, the team also works with retailers, particularly Whole Foods, Kroger, and the leading club chains. The Vice President of Consumer Packaged Goods reports to the Chief Commercial Officer.
